He was a politician and economist and was specialized in labour issues and he was awarded the Bharat Ratna Indian highest Civilian award in 1997 he studied at Lahore Agra and Allahabad.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">He worked as a research scholar on labour problems at university of Allahabad and became the professor of Economics at National college (Bombay) he was imprisoned for Satyagraha in 1932 and again from 1942 to 1944. Nanda was elected as legislative Assembly and was parliamentary secretary to government of Bombay and later he went to Geneva as government delegate to the international labor conference and worked for freedom of Association committee and he visited many countries.&nbsp; He was appointed to the house of people from Bombay in general election to lok sabha general election and appointed as union minister and he was reelected to loksabha in 1962 he initiated the congress forum for socialist action in 1962 he was the union Minister for labour &nbsp;following the death of Padit Nehru he was sworn as Prime Minister of India on May 27, 1964 again on Jan 11 following the death of Lal Bhadur Shastri.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Gulzarilal Nanda (acting PM):- was the Prime Minister of India for two short periods following the death of Jawarlal Nehru in 1964 and Lal Bhadur Shastri .
