He was the daughter of Nehru and her mother was&nbsp; kamala nehru&nbsp; Indra was the only child as her younger brother died.she was guided by a tutors&nbsp; and she attained school very often. As her father was &nbsp;often away regarding the politics she used to communicate only through letters and her mother was often illness, after the death of her father Nehru .she served as a prime minister from Jan 1966 to 1977 and again jan 1980 until her assassination making her second longest serving Indian prime minister after her father . Gandhi served as her father personal assistant and hostess during prime minister&nbsp; she was elected as a president of Indian national congress and later she was appointed as member of Rajya sabha to become leader and thus succeeded shastri as prime minister of India she went to war with Pakistan in support of Independence movement which result in Indian victory after the state of emergency where basic civil liberties were suspended .
