It is\u00a0 used to confirm the presence of an acid, a base\u00a0 or a neutral solution.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><span style=\"color:#881865\" class=\"has-inline-color\">NATURAL INDICATORS:<\/span><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><span class=\"has-inline-color has-vivid-purple-color\">1.LITMUS:<\/span> It is extracted from lichens. It is available in the form of strips or in solution.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><span class=\"has-inline-color has-vivid-purple-color\">2.TURMERIC :<\/span> It remains yellow in neutral and acidic solutions but turns red in base.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><span class=\"has-inline-color has-vivid-purple-color\">3.CHINA ROSE:<\/span> It turns acidic solutions to pink and basic solution to green.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><span class=\"has-inline-color has-vivid-purple-color\">4.RED CABBAGE:<\/span> It turns acidic solutions to red and basic solution to blue.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><span style=\"color:#f2216a\" class=\"has-inline-color\">OTHER INDICATORS<\/span><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><span class=\"has-inline-color has-vivid-red-color\">1.METHYL ORANGE <\/span>: it gives pinkish red colour with acids and yellow colour with bases. <span class=\"has-inline-color has-vivid-red-color\">2.PHENOLPHTHALEIN:<\/span> It is an acid \u2013base indicator . It is colourless in acidic but turns pink in alkali solutions.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><span style=\"color:#2e2be2\" class=\"has-inline-color\"><strong>NEUTRALIZATION<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>It is the reaction between an acid and a base which results in the formation of salt and water.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Acid +Base = Salt + Water .<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Example :HCl+NaOH= NaCl+ H2<sub>O<\/sub><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><span style=\"color:#7d0d6b\" class=\"has-inline-color\"><strong>NEUTRALISATION IN EVERYDAY LIFE<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><span style=\"color:#1a2bb0\" class=\"has-inline-color\">1.INDIGESTION:<\/span> Too much acid in stomach causes indigestion. It is neutralized by taking an antacid like milk of magnesia.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><span style=\"color:#1e27a9\" class=\"has-inline-color\">2.ANT STING <\/span><span class=\"has-inline-color has-vivid-cyan-blue-color\">:<\/span>When an ant bites, it injects formic acid into skin .The effect is neutralised by rubbing moist baking soda .<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><span style=\"color:#212eb9\" class=\"has-inline-color\">3.
