This supports the plant to stand straight on the ground.The root system of a plant constantly provides the stems and leaves with water and dissolved minerals.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong><span class=\"has-inline-color has-vivid-purple-color\">The different types of roots<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">1. Taproot:with a main taproot that is larger and grows faster than the branch\u00a0root.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">2.Fibrous root:with all\u00a0roots\u00a0about the same size;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">3.Adventitious,\u00a0roots\u00a0:that form on any plant part other than the<strong>\u00a0roots.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong><span class=\"has-inline-color has-vivid-purple-color\">Where do the roots of a plant grow?<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Root growth is one of the functions of the&nbsp;<strong>apical meristem<\/strong>&nbsp;located near the tip of the root.Tree roots usually grow to three times the diameter of the branch spread, only half of which lie underneath the trunk and canopy. The roots from one side of a tree usually supply nutrients to the foliage on the same side.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><span class=\"has-inline-color has-vivid-purple-color\"><strong>What is the colour of the root<\/strong>?<\/span><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">young&nbsp;<strong>roots<\/strong>&nbsp;are almost white older ones from a tree are from light brown to black! Absorbed by the roots,<strong>&nbsp;water<\/strong>&nbsp;travels through a&nbsp;plant&#8217;s&nbsp;stems to the chloroplasts in the leaves.&nbsp;Water&nbsp;also helps move nutrients from the soil into the&nbsp;plant. Too little&nbsp;water&nbsp;can cause a&nbsp;plant&nbsp;to wilt or droop.The roots absorb water and nutrients essential for the plants from the soil .Water and nutrients reach the stem and leaves through the roots.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Some of the vegetables that grow under roots<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image is-style-default\"><figure vegetables grow underground, they absorb a great amount of nutrients from the soil.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Example:<strong>Carrots<\/strong>, yuca, kohlrabi, onions, garlic, celery root (or celeriac), horseradish, daikon, turmeric, jicama, Jerusalem artichokes,\u00a0<strong>radishes<\/strong>, and ginger\u00a0.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h1 class=\"wp-block-heading\"
