# Summary

**Subtraction** is an arithmetic operation that represents the operation of removing objects from a collection.The result of a subtraction is called a **difference**.Subtraction is signified by the minus sign (-) .

**Subtraction of 5-digit numbers without borrowing.**

The digits are subtracted in the order of units, tens hundred and thousands.

**Subtraction of 5-digit number with regrouping and borrowing**

Subtraction of 5 digit numbers with regrouping or borrowing is the same as that of subtraction of 4 digit numbers by regrouping or borrowing.
