ಪಂಪ ಕೀರ್ತಿದೃಷ್ಟಿಯಿಂದ ಕರ್ನಾಟಕದ ಕವಿ. ಆದರೆ ಅಂತರ್ ಮೌಲ್ಯದ ದೃಷ್ಟಿಯಿಂದ ಅವನು ಜಗತ್ಕವಿ. ಷೇಕ್ಸ್ಪಿಯರಿಗೆ ಒದಗಿದ ಅಥವಾ ಷೇಕ್ಸ್ಪಿಯರನ ಇಂಗ್ಲೆಂಡಿಗೆ ಒದಗಿದಂಥ ಜಗತ್ತನ್ನೇ ಜಯಿಸುವ, ಆಳುವ ಒಂದು ಸಂದರ್ಭ ನಮ್ಮ ಕರ್ನಾಟಕಕ್ಕೆ ಒದಗಿದ್ದರೆ, ನಾವು ಆಗ ಕನ್ನಡವನ್ನು ಅಲ್ಲಿ ಅಧಿಕೃತ ಭಾಷೆ ಮಾಡಿ, ನಮ್ಮ ಪಂಪ ರನ್ನ ಇವರನ್ನೆಲ್ಲ ಅಲ್ಲಿ ಮೆರೆದಿದ್ದರೆ, ನಮ್ಮ ವಿಮರ್ಶೆಗಳನ್ನೆಲ್ಲ ಬ್ರಾಡ್ಲೆ ಅವರೆಲ್ಲ ಬರೆದಹಾಗೆ ನಾವೂ ಬರೆದು ಮಾಡಿದ್ದರೆ, ಆಗ ಪಂಪನೂ ಕೀರ್ತಿದೃಷ್ಟಿಯಿಂದಲೂ ಜಗತ್ಕವಿಯೇ ಆಗಿಬಿಡುತ್ತಿದ್ದ.
